League of Leaders Leadership Camp (March 2016)


DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY



On 19th March 2016 until 20th March 2016, there are 27 participants, 14 committees and 1 lecturer had joined League of Leaders Leadership Camp March 2016 which located at SUFES Camping Sdn. Bhd. Our society had engaged the transportation service of Rhino Airiel Travel & Tours Sdn. Bhd. on 19th March 2016 which required RM 500 for fees. On 20th March 2016, our society engaged the transportation service of UTAR which required RM 270 for fees.

At 8.30 a.m., all committees gathered at UTAR Student Pavilion II. Committees started to do the preparation for registration and activities. At 9.00 a.m., the participants started to gather and registered from the organizing secretary. Then, the team formation had started. After team formation had done, each group had chosen their group leader and assistant leader and also think their group name and group slogan. At least one committee had been distributed to each group to observe the performance of each group. After that, group leaders of each group came out and present their own group name and slogan.

At 9.30 a.m., the opening ceremony is started. First, our organizing chairperson, Sia Geng Zhe gave a welcome speech to all the participants. Next, our vice organizing chairperson introduced the rules and regulations of this camp to the participants. After that, team building activities which called “walk like centipede” and “break the balloons” were carried on. All participants were putting their effort in these activities. Through these activities, they can earn LOL tokens which were very useful in afterward activity. After team building, the participants mocked up a formal meeting to solve the problems given. Everyone will get different position in the committee group. They spoke out their opinion through the formal meeting and committees analysed their performance. Then, a representative of each group shared their own group solution. After that, there was lunch time. During the lunch time, the participants tried to find out their own faci and the title of the performance on the second day of the camp was given. Afterwards, we set off to the campsite.

It took around 35 minutes to reach SUFES Camping Sdn Bhd. On the way we go to the SUFES Camping Sdn Bhd., a program which called “Angel game” was started. Everyone get to know the lucky person who they need to take care of during this two days one night camp through drawing session. After we reached, the person in-charge of the camp site explained about the rules and regulation of the campsite. Then, we checked in and gathered at 2.30pm to start the treasure hunt. Treasure hunt was taken around three and half hours to complete and it covered the whole areas of campsite for playing games. To make it more competitive, participants could get the LOL tokens after they won treasure hunt. This program had successfully built up their teamwork and improved the relationship with each other. After treasure hunt, all the participants had given one hour to rest and bath then having their dinner. After dinner, participants were given time to discuss their performance on second day. During the discussion, they used the LOL tokens which they had won during the team building activities and treasure hunt to buy anything they needed to complete their performance. Then, campfire and angle program were started. Everyone stood up and shared out who is the lucky person he/she needed to take care of.

At 9.30 p.m., jungle trekking was started. It took around one and half hour to complete. After that, we took supper and the participants started to discuss about the performance for second day whereas the committees had a meeting to discuss this whole day activity.

On second day, from early morning until 9.30 p.m. is participants’ free time. They can decide when they want to take their breakfast and when they want to discuss and prepare for their performance. On the same time, committees had a discussion for voting the best team, best male member and best female member. In addition, fancy of each group wrote their advice in a letter for their own group. On 9.30 a.m., the performance was started. Every group did well and many creative ideas could be seen during their performance. After performance, faci gave the letter to their group members and lead all of them to conclude this two days one night camp.

At 11 a.m., the closing ceremony was started by the speech of organizing chairperson. After speech, the result of best team, best male member and best female member were announced and all of them had been awarded by giving hamper. Then representative of each group also came out and shared their felling in this camp. After that, we took lunch and set off to UTAR Kampar. Without any delays, the buses had arrived Kampar at 2 p.m. A two days one night camp had been ended.


As a conclusion, this was a successful event which without happened any unwanted or incidents during the camp.

Debate Competition (March 2016)


DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY



A total of 8 students participated in the Debate on Logistics And Transport 2016 at the AK Academy, Penang. Six teams of four debaters from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, Universiti Utara Malaysia and AK Academy were invited to participate in this competition held on the 12th of March. UTAR’s Team A managed to get second place, losing to UUM in the final by a score of 70-72. UTAR’s Team B lost in the preliminary round to the eventual champions.

During the event, the participants were able to network with UUM and AK Academy. They are two of the few schools who offer the Logistics course in their institution. We were able to invite them to participate in our upcoming event, Talk Series June 2016. The team were also able to get insight on the industry, as the moderators of the competition are well known figures in the logistics industry.

Flower Selling (August 2015)


DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY


Logistics and International Shipping Society of Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman has participated in the Convocation Flower Selling August 2015 by Department of Student Affairs from 21st August 2015 to 23rd August 2015. The event was carried out at Dewan Tun Dr. Ling Leong Sik, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, Kampar Campus. The duration of the event are shown at below:

  • 21/08/2015: 6:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
  • 22/08/2015: 6:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. 
  • 23/08/2015: 6:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

The helpers in charged for the event gathered at N004 of Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman before 5:00 a.m. and a short briefing was given at 5:00 a.m. every day. After the briefing, the preparation work started. The works include moving the flowers supplied by the flower vendor from N004 to the booth set up at pathway of Dewan Tun Dr. Ling Liong Sik, and arranged flowers according to the prices.

Members of the organizing team and helpers were assigned to help out throughout the event to serve the customers. The members and helpers provide duty accordingly to their respective duty hours as planned in the duty list.

Interaction Day (Jan 2016)



DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY




Interaction Day January 2016 of Logistics and International Shipping Society was conducted on 30th January 2016. The event was held from 7.30 am to 12.30pm in the Student Pavilion II, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, Kampar Campus. We started our registration session on 7.30 am. During the registration, each participant was assigned with different colours key chain which is used in grouping during the game session. Bread was provided as breakfast for each participant.

After that, the MC of the event day started the ice-breaking session after the introduction of the committee members. The ice-breaking session took around 45 minutes. During the game session, the first game was “tank”. Each group was given 15 minutes to do the tank using the limited amount of newspaper. After that, the members have to walk on the tank from the starting point to the ending point as fast as possible without damaging the tank. It took almost 30minutes. The mark evaluation was same to all games. 5 marks for the successful group, 3 marks for the second, 1 mark for the third and 0 mark for the last. The next game was charade. It was carried on in the form of PK. Two groups received the same words in the same time and the successful group must answer correctly and earlier. 5 words was given to the groups in this game and it almost take 45 minutes.

Aside from that, the third game was rope skipping. The groups must take turn to complete the game and it took around 1 hour. Lastly, dodgeball match took the event around 1 hour. After the game session, participants are allowed to take a rest and have the lunch prepared. On 12.30pm, the chairperson gave the prizes to the winning group which accumulated the highest mark. Before leaving, group photo was taken among all the members. In spite of the absence of some members, the event run smoothly without any problems arise.

Recruitment Drive (Jan 2016)



DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY


Recruitment Drive January 2016 of Logistics and International Shipping Society was conducted from 18th January 2016 until 21st January 2016. It was located at Pathway between Faculty of Science and Faculty of Engineering and Green Technology, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, Kampar Campus. The event was held from 10.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. 

The recruitment drive was organized with the objectives to attract bright students to be a member of Logistics and International Shipping Society, increase awareness of Logistics and International Shipping Society and create membership of Logistics and International Shipping Society. 
In order to promote this recruitment drive, information about Logistics and International Shipping were posted on the decorative board. Other than that, members on duty were responsible for giving explanations.  

There were a total of 12members on duty during these four days. There were 7 registration of ordinary membership through this event. A total of RM 70.00 membership fees were collected, which is RM 10.00 per year for ordinary members.

Fund Raising (Jan 2016)


DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY


Fund Raising January 2016 of Logistics and International Shipping Society was conducted from 19th January 2016 until 22th January 2016. The event was held from 10.00 am to 4.00pm at Student Pavilion I, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, Kampar Campus. We were selling nomaji , Portuguese tart , Root beer float and ice cream puff on the first three days while on the last days we were selling nomaji , Portuguese tart , and Root beer float. The ice cream puff had four flavours that are chocolate, mint, yam and vanilla could be chosen. The customer could buy three nomaji in set at RM2.50 .The committee members and helpers were taking turns to duty at the booth from 10.00 am to 4pm. Before that, some members decorate board to attract customers. In spite of the cooperation of all members, the event run smoothly without any problems arise.
